KWCT
We at KWCT rescue wild animals that enter human habitation and relocate them back to the forests. Our rescuers rush to the rescued species or attend to the wild animals at their habitat to get them professional care if they are sick, injured, or orphaned and ultimately help them re-integrate to their natural habitats.
Education is a key part of our work. We conduct several training programmes on rescues and several awareness programmes to various audience. Some of our training and awareness programmes include: Conservation of wildlife, Mitigation of human – wildlife conflict.
Earth is the only planet known to support various forms of life. But over the past few decades human life has started suppressing other forms of life through activities like wildlife trafficking and poaching and many more. Poaching, the illegal hunting of animals results in the death of tens of million of animals every year. If these animals are safeguarded, then the entire ecosystems are protected. We at KWCT work with the forest departments in assisting their operations to hunt the poachers and killers and protect the wildlife.
We conduct various awareness/sensitization programmes in Tribal areas on topics like health and hygiene, biodiversity, ecosystem, education, career enhancement. We provide vocational and hands-on training to the tribal people to encourage them to start and develop small businesses. We provide skill and entrepreneurial development to the tribal youth. We conduct various programmes for Tribal women empowerment.
Human – wildlife conflict occurs when animals pose a direct and recurring threat to the livelihood or safety of people, leading to the persecution of that species. Human – wildlife conflict has affected many species of animals and has also severely impacted the livelihoods, security and wellbeing of the people. We at KWCT aim to mitigate the impact of human-wildlife conflict through education and awareness programmes. As part of these programmes, people are sensitized on the importance of preserving wildlife and are educated and trained to deal with human-wildlife conflict , like building fences, trenches, setting up alarm systems and other mechanisms.
The natural environment is a source for a wide range of resources. India’s rich biodiversity and unique wildlife are its greatest national treasures. But as the human populations increases and as the country has embarked on a programme of rapid development, its wildlife and their habitats face the threat of degradation and fragmentation. Preserving habitats is essential to preserving biodiversity. At KWCT, we work to conserve, create and restore habitats on land and water that animals need to survive to prevent their extinction, fragmentation, or reduction in range.
Biodiversity is more than simply the collection of plants and animals on earth; it is about local ecosystems and promoting healthy conditions for organisms to thrive.
KWCT focuses at biodiversity conservation through the following strategies:
1. Biodiversity use and conservation education.
2. Afforestation.
3. Communities involvement.
4. Protection of wildlife species.
